A long standing tradition in Edenton, the Peanut Festival and Battle of the Bands is held on the first weekend in October to celebrates the peanut industry and what it means to the people of Chowan County. The festival features a parade, food, arts and crafts vendors, a farmers market, exhibits, rides, music, entertainment and so much more. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and ends at John A. Holmes High School, where the festival takes place all day. The Battle of the Bands pits regional high school bands against each other in a friendly competition.
