The Edenton Historical Commission is a non-profit organization created by the General Assembly of North Carolina in 1961 and has been funded by the community, unlike many other non-profits receiving funding from the state or federal government. The main goal of the Edenton Historical Commission is to continue the preservation of Edenton's historical public buildings and to continue to educate the public of the history of Edenton. The Commission is made up of 33 members each with different roles to best serve the community. The Commission holds a number of events that are fun and educational for the entire community.
