The newly reopened Taylor Theater is back and running with more captivating films and memorable evenings. As you might expect of a movie theater, Taylor Theater in downtown Edenton attracts crowds with its blockbuster films and indie selections. However the beautiful theater itself is just as much of the attractions as the featured films. People love marveling at the historic building and partaking in the vintage movie-going experience that the theater has preserved. Even as you see it from Broad Street in historic downtown, you feel yourself taken back to the past, with its named spelled out in the curly red letters at the top of the building wedged between the others. Taylor Theater was built in 1925 as an opera house, and in the 1980s it was converted into a twin cinema. Long-time Edenton residents have memories of coming to the theater to see their first movie on the big screen, and over the years, they’ve passed on this activity to their children or even grandchildren. Grab a large popcorn and lemonade for a fraction of what you would pay in the big city and settle in. This is an experience worth replaying.
