Edenton Baptist Church has welcomed members and guests under its turquoise-colored dome for nearly 200 years. From the time it was founded in 1817 as the Baptist Meeting House, the church has played an integral role in the Edenton community, hosting events and bringing some of the state's most influential Baptists to Edenton, including Thomas Meredith who founded Meredith College. A terrible fire destroyed the church in 1870, but the congregation found the resources to quickly recover a new and larger church by 1875. In 2003 the church received a new fellowship hall. Edenton Baptist Church invites members of the community to its events throughout the week. As you might expect, worship services are held on Sunday mornings, but you can also check out the weekly Bible studies, family night suppers, choir practices and more.
