Whether you’re an Edenton lifelong resident or just passing through town, it takes no time at all to recognize that Edenton plays host to beautiful historic homes and other buildings. When you walk down the streets in historic downtown, you can't help but marvel at the homes’ exteriors and gardens. The biennial Edenton Pilgrimage of Historic Homes offers a guided tour of homes and buildings in the town, all of which are at least 100 years old. This event is sponsored by the Edenton Woman’s Club, and you’re led between the participating homes by the club’s members and volunteers, who eagerly share the history and stories about every location along the tour. When you’re not visiting the homes, you can enjoy the horse-drawn carriage rides, exhibits of Southern foods and antiques, dancing to live music and other festivities. This event is held every other April on odd-number years (2017, 2019, etc.) and alternates with Easels in the Garden.
