Between its historic homes, waterfront and carefully cultivated gardens, Edenton oozes with beauty that inspires people to create and imitate the scenes themselves. The biennial Easels in the Gardens lets plein air artists capture the scenes of the historic homes and gardens with their paints and brushes at the height of the gardens’ spring bloom. And what’s even more fun is that the community and art enthusiasts are invited to watch their creative process. The art made during the event is available for purchase at the Cupola House Garden Party on the last day. Meet the artists, enjoy live music, munch on hors d’oeuvres and revel in the natural beauty of the outdoors. This event is held every other April on even-number years (2016, 2018, etc.) and alternates with the Edenton Pilgrimage of Historic Homes.
