Facing History and Facing Ourselves, in Faith, Hope and Love
The Edenton Racial Reconciliation Group will host a special program featuring guest speakers Doug Tanner and Peter Storey. Doug Tanner is the founder of the Faith & Politics Institute in Washington, D.C. He worked closely for many years with Congressman John Lewis. Peter Storey is a former president of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and the South African Council of Churches. He was Methodist Bishop of the Johannesburg/Soweto area for 13 years. Peter’s lived experience in the United States and South Africa will make for a thought-provoking conversation on current race relations and other issues here at home.
Edenton’s Racial Reconciliation Group has been meeting every Thursday for ten years. It is multiracial and nonpartisan, and provides a welcoming, conversational setting for overcoming
racial prejudices and stereotypes in ourselves and our community by hearing and seeing others in new ways.
