Dueling Taverns
Come out to downtown Edenton for the first ever Dueling Taverns event hosted by Friends of State Historic Sites Edenton! Here is a breakdown of this two-night event:
Friday, March 13 from 5-7 pm, join us in a tavern crawl through downtown Edenton’s many fine establishments! Take a sip of history and engage with costumed interpreters, read newspaper clippings hot off the 1770s presses, and toast to the Revolution... or the King. Loyalist or Patriot, the ideals of a new nation were formed in the taverns and ordinaries of Edenton. Taste a bit of history in this themed tavern crawl. Costumes encouraged!
Saturday March 14, from 5-7pm, come to the Iredell House for a truly immersive experience! Sit by the fire and play 18 century tavern games with costumed interpreters, debate the latest news from 1776, and decide which establishment is your favorite - The King’s Arms or Sign of the Thistle. Entry is free, beverages (alcoholic or otherwise) are $2-$5 each, and all proceeds go to Friends of State Historic Sites Edenton, to support educational engagement opportunities at Historic Edenton SHS. Costumes encouraged!
