Event Description:

Hurricane Isabel was one of the most destructive storms in the area’s history. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Category 2 storm felled thousands of trees, resulted in massive power outages and caused “unusually high storm surge” after making landfall on the North Carolina coast on Sept. 18, 2003. Area residents will get a chance to remember Isabel’s devastating impact when the town of Edenton hosts a free screening of a locally produced documentary film marking the storm’s 20th anniversary next month at the Taylor Theater.
