Take a step into the early days of North Carolina's countryside in a romantically bucolic accommodation. Between the towns of Hertford and Edenton you'll find Beechtree Inn, a tranquil escape from bustling modern-day lives. Beechtree Inn is made up of 16 restored pre-Civil War homes, and five of them are available to guests. Each set of guests stays in a separate cottage, so the inn is great for accommodating groups of all sizes. The houses still resemble their original selves, with steep staircases and fireplaces, but the country-chic style and decor lets you relax in modern comfort. Two of the houses have furnished kitchens, which are great if you're planning a long stay or even if you want to rent the cottage by the month. Each house has updated amenities including WiFi. A country-style breakfast is served every morning except for Sundays, when you'll find a breakfast basket waiting outside your door instead. The owner, Ben Hobbs, operates a woodworking school on site.
